Clinical English Club: There is / are

There is - There are ที่ใช้ในไวยากรณ์ภาษาอังกฤษ ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องพื้นฐานที่ไม่ว่าจะเป็นผู้เขียนเองหรือบางคนยังอาจจะสับสนในการใช้กันอยู่บ้าง เพื่อไม่ให้เสียเวลาเรามาดูกันเลยดีกว่าค่ะว่ามีรูปแบบการใช้กันยังไง
รูปแบบ There is + นามเอกพจน์ หรือกลุ่มนามเอกพจน์ หรือสรรพนามเอกพจน์ ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ปัจจุบัน ในความหมายว่า "มี" เช่น
               There is a picture on the wall.                     มีภาพวาดอยู่บนผนังภาพหนึ่ง
                There is a vase on the table.                     มีแจกันอยู่บนโต๊ะใบหนึ่ง
               There is a lot of homework to do today.                      วันนี้มีการบ้านต้องทำมากเลย

รูปแบบ There are + นามพหูพจน์ หรือ กลุ่มนามพหูพจน์ ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ปัจจุบัน ในความหมายว่า "มี"
         เช่น   There are some cows in the field.                     มีวัวจำนวนหนึ่งอยู่ในทุ่ง
              There are ten children on the playground now.                     ตอนนี้มีเด็กสิบคนอยู่ในสนามเด็กเล่น
              There are about twenty books on the shelf.                    มีหนังสือประมาณสิบเล่มอยู่บนชั้น
              There are a lot on tree in the park.                     มีต้นไม้เยอะแยะในสวนสาธารณะ
How to use There is/are

There is + เอกพจน์

There are + พหูพจน์

For example:
There is one chocolate brownie on the table.Another nice easy rule ...Don't start a sentence with "Have" ... except when it's a question.

คนมาหา,มี2คนมาหา these sentences as "Have one person to see you" or "Have two people to see you." Instead, you must say "There is somebody here to see you" or "There are two people here to see you."
So remember ... use "There is" and "There are" at the beginning of a sentence in the meaning of มี
